From “Il Mattino” Christmas miracle on the Vesuvius crater. In the afternoon of the eve, just before the closure of the Gran Cono path, a US tourist was seized with a heart attack while he was on top of the volcano. The 60-year-old from Los Angeles, on holiday in Naples for the end of year holidays with his wife and a couple of friends, went into cardiac arrest, perhaps due to the effort to climb. To help him were a doctor who was among tourists visiting Vesuvius and the volcanological guides who have been equipped with a defibrillator for some months to be used in emergencies. And the defibrillator has saved the life of the American tourist: in fact, the arrival on the crater of the staff of 118, the man had already been stabilized. Transported to the Sant’Anna hospital and Madonna della Neve of Boscotrecase, it was kept under observation, but immediately declared out of danger to life.
